Research Interests
The ocean environment has provided society with numerous bioactive compounds with potential applications in both human and animal welfare. However, their development into full-fledged pharmaceutical products is frequently prevented by the inability of the natural source to provide sufficient quantities to permit clinical evaluation. To address the supply issue currently hindering the clinical development of many marine terpenoids, we have set out to develop a microbial heterologous expression platform capable of high-level terpenoid production.
