Patricia Boland

Research Interests:

1) Drug Discovery from marine invertebrates and algae: I am involved with a program designed to screen extracts of marine macro organisms for biomedical activity. Collections have been made in Florida, Bahamas and the east coast of Canada. My involvement is in the initial processing of the samples, extractions and fractionation. I also coordinate the distribution of samples for assays performed within our research group and through collaborations with groups in academia and industry.

2) Eleutherobin biosynthesis: I am collaborating with Dr. Fabrice Berrue (PDF)
to isolate and purify
a diversity of terpenes in Erythropodium caribaeorum with a goal to identify potential biosynthetic intermediates and new compounds for biological screening.
